I told my therapist about you...

So , I have recently changed course in my career. Instead of individual counseling, I will be working with the adoption team of LDS Family Services beginning next week. I am a little nervous. I thought my eyes were opened to a whole new side of human behavior during my counseling, but I was quickly informed that I have not even the slightest idea what awaits me in the world of adoption. I've never dealt with hunting down birth mothers in the slums of old Las Vegas or meeting with individuals under a street lamp in front of a Subway because there is no permanent residence for my client.

So what brought about the shift in careers? Well, after countless horrible experiences with the Board of Social workers, I decided that this was a better fit for my family and I right now. You see, the Board is not generally understanding of women who choose to have families and take time off of their clinical internships to give birth. In fact, after taking time off for Josiah, I was told that I would have to start all 3,000 of my hours over again and continue until I finished. So, I am leaving the world of counseling and entering the world of adoption. Wish me luck!

Hip, Hip, Hurrah for you and motherhood. I think you will be a great fit for this new job. We will be interested in how you find it. The other side of the sad story is the happy family getting a baby they have waited for so long. So there must be something wonderful about it too.Love you!
